Bob and Paulette

About the artist
Bob had both a BFA and an MFA from The Maryland Institute, College of Art, and has painted and taught in the Baltimore area for the past thirty years. His realistic landscapes, still-lifes, and portraits are represented in collections nationally.

Bob liked to emphasize the play of light, whether on water or stone in my landscapes or on glass and cloth in his still-life studies. He employed the glazing techniques of the Old Masters but with a contemporary feel. Making his own paint by grinding dry pigment allowed Bob to create a luminous quality in his work.

On February 18th, 2009, Bob and Paulette Kirkpatrick were struck and killed by a drunk driver while traveling from an International Guild of Realism exhibit in which Bob was displaying his work.

Paulette A. and Robert C. Kirkpatrick were an inseparable couple that loved travel, nature, helping others, and cherished family.  Those who knew them were lucky, students who benefited from their teaching are better, and the world is a more beautiful place because of them...We miss you
